The mission revolves around understanding each client’s objectives and risk appetite, while attempting effective management of their investments individually.

Five Rivers Portfolio Managers has a 9 years plus money management track record. In this period, the company has set up effective processes both in terms of constructing investment portfolios as well as trading and settlement of securities through the exchanges.

Five Rivers Portfolio Managers has recently received approvals to set up a Category III Alternate Investment Fund in the Gujarat International Finance Tech-City, Gandhinagar and is in the process of raising its first Investment Fund.

Founder

Five Rivers Portfolio Managers is founded by Mr. Pankaj Chopra, CFA, who has been associated with the Indian Equity markets in various investment roles for the past 30 years.

Before founding Five Rivers, Pankaj was the Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Wealth Management for a period of five years, where he was instrumental in setting up the third party distribution operation as well as a highly focused equities portfolio business. In addition, Reliance Wealth Management acted as the Investment advisor to the WIOF - India Performance Fund, the Reliance Shariah India Growth Fund and the RWM Managed Portfolio Fund.

In his earlier role as the Head of Client Funds, Pankaj set up a private money management and advisory practice at HDFC Asset Management Company Ltd., which acted as an investment advisor to Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Nikko Asset Management and Standard Life Investments,amongst others.

In the year 2000, Pankaj was part of a core team which set up HDFC Mutual Fund and joined in as a Senior Fund Manager looking after some the initial schemes launched by the mutual fund.

For seven years prior to this, Pankaj worked in the Treasury at Housing Development Finance Corporation where he helped win investment advisory mandates from several International funds including the Commonwealth Equity Fund and the Invesco India Growth Fund.

In the early years 1990s Pankaj was seconded byBatterymarchFinancial Management, Boston, to look after their investment affairs in India.

Pankaj has completed the coursework requirements from the CFA Institute, USA and is also a Charter holder from the ICFAI, Hyderabad. He holds a Master’s degree in Finance and is a Graduate in Agricultural Sciences.

Akash Rajpura serves as the Principal Officer at Five Rivers Por olio Managers Private Limited (IFSC Branch), where he leads the firm’s investment strategies. With over 12 years of experience in financial analysis, compliance, and risk management, he brings deep market insight and opera onal discipline. Akash began his career at S&P Globals Market Intelligence as a financial analyst and later held a senior role at Mul Commodity Exchange (MCX), focusing on market surveillance and regulatory compliance. He holds an MBA in Finance and Management and is also hold a diploma in financial planning. Akash is commited to delivering long-term value through disciplined, research-driven investment decisions.

Tushar Somany serves at the Compliance Officer at Five Rivers Portolio Managers Private Limited (IFSC Branch), bringing over 28 years of experience in banking, asset management, and por olio management services. He has a strong track record in business set-up, regulatory compliance, business development, opera ons, and client relationship management. Tushar began his career with HDFC Bank in 1998 and went on to hold key roles at IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Asset Management, and Reliance Wealth Management. His exper se spans PMS, mutual funds, banking products, and financial solutions. Known for his strategic mindset and execution capabilies, he ensures operational excellence while adhering to regulatory standards. Tushar played a vital role in setting up Five Rivers and rejoined the firm in September 2023 after a tenure at Pine Labs. A Commerce graduate and a qualified Chartered Accountant, he is recognized for his leadership, communication, and people management skills.
